Because government travel requirements change periodically, we recommend that you check with your travel advisor, a visa service provider or the consulate of each country being visited.
 

As a courtesy, Holland America Line provides the following information for guests holding a passport from the U.S., Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Austria, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Romania, and Mexico. For guests holding a passport from nations other than the above list we recommend you inquire with CIBTvisas or your local consulate.
 

• Nationals of the USA, Australia, and Canada require an e-visa for Brazil; e-visas may be obtained via https://brazil.vfsevisa.com/. 
 
• Nationals of Australia require an e-visa for Chile; e-visas may be obtained via https://tramites.minrel.gov.cl/ 
 
• Nationals of Brazil and Mexico will require a visa for the United States. 
 
• Nationals of the Netherlands, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Austria, Romania, and United Kingdom will require an ESTA or Visa for the United States, please review the United States section below for entry requirements.   
 
• Nationals of USA, Canada, Germany, Austria, Brazil, Mexico, Netherlands, Romania, Switzerland, and United Kingdom require an ETA or Visa for New Zealand; documentation can be obtained via guests preferred visa service provider or https://www.immigration.govt.nz/visit/what-you-need-to-visit-new-zealand/check-if-you-need-a-visa-or-an-nzeta/. 
 
• Nationals of USA, Canada, Germany, Austria, Brazil, Mexico, Netherlands, Romania, Switzerland, and United Kingdom require an ETA or Visa for Australia; per the Australian government the ETA or Visa must be obtained via their app or official government site via https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-finder/visit.
 

• Nationals of USA, Canada, Germany, Austria, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Romania, Switzerland, and United Kingdom require a Visa for Indonesia; visas will be issued on arrival to guests arriving with the ship for a fee and will be billed to guests’ onboard account.
 

• Nationals of USA, Canada, Austria, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Romania, and Switzerland require a Visa for Vietnam; visas will be issued on arrival to guests arriving with the ship for a fee and will be billed to guests’ onboard account.
 

• Nationals of Brazil and Mexico will require a visa for the Taiwan; guests can remain on board without a visa. Nationals of Brazil and Mexico that want to go ashore while at port will need to obtain a visa via https://www.boca.gov.tw/mp-2.html.

UNITED STATES
 

A United States visa is required for certain nationalities. If you are an eligible passport holder from a Visa Waiver Program (VWP) country, you will be able to enter/exit the U.S. without a visa provided you are in possession of a biometric passport AND pre-register online for the VWP through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).
 

ESTA applications may be made online at https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/.  Applications may be submitted at any time prior to travel; however, DHS recommends that applications be submitted no less than 72 hours prior to travel.
 

If you have travelled to Cuba since January 2021, you are not eligible to participate in the US Visa Waiver Program (VWP). You cannot enter or transit the US on an ESTA, including for medical evacuations. You will need to apply for a visa from the nearest US Embassy. 

Holland America Line provides guests with the following link to CIBTvisas as a service to assist with any visa requirements and/or the collection of necessary documents: hollandamerica.cibtvisas.com. Guests may, if they prefer, use another visa service or complete the process on their own. Be sure to advise that you are traveling with Holland America Line and that you are traveling by sea. Your visa requirements may be different to the standard information given for air travel. In addition, you may also miss out on certain discounts given to Holland America Line guests that go through CIBTvisas. Guests are responsible for acquiring all required vaccinations and we encourage guests to consistently review the Center for Disease Control website to stay informed about the latest guidelines, changes, and vaccination requirements for every country you will visit.

Yellow Fever

Please be advised that a yellow fever vaccination is an international health requirement for all persons on this itinerary due to entry to Devil’s Island, French Guiana. A valid, original Certificate for Yellow Fever Vaccination or waiver must be presented during check-in. The vaccine must be given at least ten days before your trip and is good for life. A booster shot is recommended every ten years but is not required. If you have a medical contraindication to the vaccine, you must bring a signed vaccine exemption letter issued by a licensed medical doctor. Please note photocopies are not acceptable. During the cruise, upon arrival at certain ports, this letter will be presented to local officials who will advise whether you will be allowed to go ashore or if you will have to stay on board while the ship is in port.
 

As these requirements can change on short notice, we suggest you contact an approved public health travel advisory service at least eight weeks prior to sailing to verify the travel health precautions for your trip. Failure to present valid proof of vaccination or an exemption letter may result in denial of boarding. More information can be found at https://www.cdc.gov/yellowfever.

Smoking cigarettes, cigars, pipes, vaping devices, and e-cigarettes is permitted only in designated smoking areas. All staterooms are non-smoking, and guests in violation will be charged a us$250 per day cleaning fee. Smoking is permitted on the port side aft on Deck 8 and in the Casino for active players on Volendam. Please comply with all posted signs, placards, and announcements. We reserve the right to modify at any time the smoking policy on board or to alter the locations where smoking is permitted.
