Prince Edward Island is noted for its friendly people, warm hospitality and welcoming smiles, but this picturesque province also boasts many icons, ranging from sprawling sandy beaches, a sassy redhead named Anne, and the rolling red cliffs of the North Shore.
It is a scenic drive from Charlottetown to Cavendish, where you will enter Prince Edward Island National Park.
Next, it is a quick drive to reach the Anne of Green Gables National Historic Site. Here, you'll find the idyllic farmstead where local author Lucy Maud Montgomery drew inspiration for the story of one of Canada's most-loved fictional characters, Anne of Green Gables. During your free time on site, explore the memory-filled rooms of Anne's home, stroll the immaculate grounds and Lovers' Lane, and perhaps treat yourself to a memento from the impressive gift shop.
Finally, follow a tableau of rolling farmlands, stunning seascapes, tiny villages and bustling harbors to the community of New Glasgow, voted one of Canada's prettiest little villages.
The Prince Edward Island Preserve Company is an island landmark renowned for its food. Enjoy a lobster lunch here with traditional island potato salad and coleslaw (or you can choose potato pie, fish cakes, or a chicken broccoli crepe), followed by raspberry cheesecake pie. The restaurant is located in a renovated 1913 butter factory and showcases its world-famous preserves.
Notes:
Minimal walking is required; however, participants must be able to board the motorcoach.
