Of the 3.1 million Allied troops ultimately sent into action during the Battle of Normandy, more than half were Americans. Today's tour honors the Allied troops, beginning with a motorcoach ride from Le Havre to Arromanches and the Musée du Débarquement —The Landing Museum — which tells the story of the D-Day landings.
Head to the "English" beach at Arromanches. Gold Beach was an artificial harbor used to land Allied troops and supplies.
Stop at a local restaurant for lunch and, afterward, visit Omaha Beach, where some of the US troops landed in 1944.
A stop at the American Cemetery at St Laurent-sur-Mer allows time to wander among the rows of white crosses.
Reboard the coach and return to the ship in the late afternoon.
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes.
