Explore Kampung Peneleh, a legendary village in Surabaya rich in history and culture. Believed to date back to the Singosari Kingdom, Peneleh is home to charming old houses blending colonial and modern architectural styles. It played a pivotal role in Indonesia’s independence movement, as youth activists once gathered and boarded here. Notably, it was the residence of H.O.S. Tjokroaminoto, a key figure in Indonesia’s history. Proceed to Blessed Virgin Mary Church. This church was built in 1899 with neo-gothic architecture. Continue the tour in the historical city of Surabaya, you will next visit Majapahit Hotel. The hotel was founded in 1910 as the Hotel Oranje by Lucas Martin Sarkies who commissioned Regent Alfred John Bidwell to design the hotel. The hotel opened in 1911.
