Holland America Evolution is a comprehensive initiative to reimagine six ships through a thoughtful, bow-to-stern revitalization. Inspired by the best of Pinnacle Class, it blends guest-favorite experiences with new enhancements across staterooms, public spaces, dining, and onboard experiences. The goal is to deliver an experience that feels both premium and personal from the moment guests step aboard.

Six ships are part of the Holland America Evolution program: Oosterdam, Zuiderdam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Westerdam, Noordam, and Eurodam.

The first ship to set sail following its Holland America Evolution upgrades will be Oosterdam in Fall 2027.

Holland America Evolution is a comprehensive revitalization of our Vista class and Signature class ships – not a routine refurbishment. Rather than incremental updates, it delivers a cohesive transformation inspired by Pinnacle Class, covering staterooms, dining, public spaces, design, and guest experience, ensuring consistency and elevation across multiple ships.

Holland America Evolution ships will offer an expanded set of Pinnacle Class experiences, including refined design, refreshed staterooms, guest-favorite venues like Grand Dutch Café, and enhanced spaces designed to improve guest connection and flow. The Pinnacle ships, Rotterdam, Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam all maintain an elegant and modern cruising experience. The “R” Class ships, Volendam and Zaandam, maintain 35% fewer guests than our Pinnacle Class, and these ships offer an intimate atmosphere and a more traditional style of cruising.

Sustainability is an important element throughout Holland America Evolution, with a focus on extending the life of the fleet while improving efficiency and reducing overall environmental impact. On the interior and hotel side, upcycling and reuse are being prioritized, allowing existing materials, furnishings and structures to be thoughtfully refreshed rather than replaced where possible. Behind the scenes, the company is making targeted technical investments to improve energy efficiency, support evolving international maritime regulations, and extend long‑term ship performance. This work includes smarter power management, enhanced system performance and improvements to underwater efficiency, all aimed at reducing energy demand and lowering operational carbon intensity over time.

Many of the enhancements we are bringing to Evolution are inspired by what guests love about the Pinnacle Class ships. So, we will refresh those ships as part of regularly scheduled drydocks. Koningsdam just completed her latest dry dock in March 2026, and Rotterdam entered dry dock in Rotterdam on April 12.

The R-Class ships (Volendam and Zaandam) are beloved by guests who appreciate the ships’ scale especially for longer cruises such as our Grand Voyages and they will continue to serve that purpose. We continue regular drydocks for those ships to keep them up to date and fresh.

As ships enter dry dock for Evolution upgrades, deployments and itineraries may shift around those upgrade periods. Updated voyages will be announced and shared with guests well ahead of the drydock periods.

Holland America Evolution expands Destination Dining™ excellence across more ships, ranging from comfortably casual fare to refined specialty restaurants. Guest-favorite venues, including Grand Dutch Café, will be available across more ships.

Enhancements include refreshed and expanded public spaces, refined design elements, and enriched onboard experiences inspired by Pinnacle Class.

Yes. Public spaces will feature expanded layouts, elegant interiors, refined finishes, and open sightlines, designed to enhance how guests connect to the world and to one another.

At this time, Holland America signature experiences, including dining, music, service, and onboard programming, will be continually enhanced to the fullest expression of the Holland America brand within and outside of Holland America Evolution.

Holland America Evolution introduces new stateroom and suite categories, including two beautifully appointed suite categories, Pinnacle Suites and Bridgeview Suites, and new solo verandahs thoughtfully built with solo travelers in mind.

All staterooms will be refreshed as part of the dry docks, with beautifully appointed updates aligned to modern guest preferences.
