No, you are not required to purchase baggage insurance. Although we try to handle your bags carefully while they are in our possession, please be aware that Holland America Line cannot guarantee there will be no loss of, or damage to, your luggage or belongings. Baggage insurance is optional, but may provide additional coverage beyond the limits outlined in the Cruise Contract.
Baggage liability limits
If Holland America Line is liable for loss of, damage to, or delay of property for any cause whatsoever, the maximum liability is:
US$250 per bag, per guest
Up to 2 bags per guest for sailings 14 days or less
Up to 3 bags per guest for sailings 15 days or longer
