Explore Panama's foodie landscape — one of culture, taste, and innovation — in addition to the immense and impressive Panama Canal Expansion.
The Panama Canal Expansion is the largest project undertaken since the Canal's original construction. It has created a new lane of traffic with state-of-the-art locks that have doubled the Canal's capacity and introduced a new level of economy of scale.
Head to the Agua Clara Observation Center, set in a lush, open-air park of ten acres. From here, terraces and elevated platforms offer a sweeping view of the massive Neopanamax vessels navigating the locks and of majestic Gatun Lake.
Next, journey to the newly opened Panama's BEC (Brand Experience Center), located in the heart of Casco Antiguo of Panama City. This facility celebrates the key flavors of Panama — beer, chocolate, and coffee — and its most beloved brands. More than a museum, it's a fully immersive experience of storytelling and interactive exhibits. You'll explore the processes, inventions, and heritage that have shaped these iconic Panamanian products. Learn about the world-renowned coffee of Boquete, fine Panamanian chocolate crafted from exceptional cacao, and the National beer.
Enjoy free time in Colonial Panama for shopping before returning to the ship.
Notes: Transfer time is approximately one hour each way. Depending on canal scheduling, you may not see vessels in the lock chambers. Terrain includes cobblestones and uneven surfaces. Tour sequence may vary. This excursion departs from Gatún Lake and ends in Colón, where you will rejoin the ship. Tour departure times may vary due to local authority clearance and will be announced on board the ship. The Panama Canal Authority assigns specific time slots for the transit of each vessel transiting the locks; the arrival of the ship in Colón may be delayed. Be prepared for such a delay by bringing any needed medication or essential items on tour. Facilities are available at the terminal in Colón while you are waiting for the ship’s arrival.
