Cruise Diary: Hilo, Hawaii
Guest Sharon Johnson and her husband were on Volendam for the trans-Pacific voyage to Sydney and the circumnavigation of Australia for 55 days. Enjoy this post and photos from their call at Hilo, Hawaii.
Al and I took a tour called “Waterfall Spectacular” to see the waterfalls in Hilo during our port call there. It was raining slightly at our first stop which was Rainbow Falls. Our second stop was at a secret waterfall that the guide likes to take her tours. We also drove past an area where there was surfing. Everyone was waiting for the perfect wave even though the seas were basically flat. And the third stop was to take a short loop trail to see Akaka Waterfalls and Kahuna Waterfalls. – Sharon and Al Johnson
At Rainbow Falls. So called because of the rainbows that appear in the mist when the sun is shining. The sun wasn't shining this day so we didn't see any rainbows.
