Holland America Savour the Journey Tulip Debuts at the Keukenhof Tulip Festival

Eight weeks of color, history, and blooming wonder await at the Keukenhof Tulip Festival — and this year, Holland America unveils a tulip of its own.
A Sea of Tulips: Keukenhof Tulip Festival
If there’s one sight that signals the arrival of spring, it’s a field full of tulips stretching endlessly into the horizon. Nowhere on earth does it better than the Netherlands. Each year for roughly eight vibrant weeks, the Keukenhof Tulip Festival transforms the Dutch countryside into what can only be described as the world’s most spectacular outdoor gallery — vivid, fragrant, and utterly unforgettable.
This year, we have some exciting news to share: Holland America is proud to debut its very own tulip variety called Savour the Journey at the Keukenhof Tulip Festival on April 17. Since Holland America’s roots are intertwined with Dutch heritage, it only makes sense that we now have a bloom to call our own. Tulips are more than just a spring tradition; they’re part of our story.
Founded in Rotterdam in 1873, Holland America has long celebrated its Dutch roots through experiences that bring that heritage to life. From the elegance of our Royal Dutch Tea to the vibrant energy of our Orange Party, those traditions continue to bloom both on board and ashore.

A Garden Rooted in History
Long before it became a popular destination for flower lovers, Keukenhof was an estate used for hunting and gathering herbs for the castle kitchen — hence its name, which means “kitchen garden.” Today, that culinary legacy has evolved into something spectacular, with floral gardens that draw visitors from every corner of the world. Located in the Netherlands’ renowned bulb-growing region, Keukenhof sits amid a patchwork of color beyond its gates. The tulip — the Netherlands’ most iconic symbol — reigns supreme here, but it’s also one of the many awe-inspiring floral varieties that color the landscape in this region.
The Ultimate Tulip Festival: March 19–May 10, 2026
Ready to experience spring at its most breathtaking? Our Keukenhof Tulip Festival shore excursion begins with a panoramic drive through the lowland countryside —canals glinting in the spring sunshine, animals grazing in green pastures, and technicolored flower fields that almost seem too vivid to be real. It’s a scene-setting journey that builds anticipation every mile.
Then comes Keukenhof — nearly 80 acres of tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, and other spring-flowering bulbs. Wander at your own pace along miles of winding trails, knowing you are surrounded by 7 million flower bulbs across more than 800 tulip varieties.
