Explore the Canadian island where Franklin D. Roosevelt and his family spent more than fifty years vacationing, now known as Roosevelt Campobello International Park. A partnership between Canada and the United States, this park is jointly administered, staffed, and funded by the two governments — an enduring symbol of friendship between the two nations.
Begin your outing with a transfer by lobster boat between Eastport and Lubec, Maine. There, you'll hop into a small vehicle and cross into Canada.
Visit the elegant Wells-Shober Cottage — a beautifully preserved late 19th-century summer home acquired by the Shober family of Philadelphia in 1912. Expert interpreters will bring to life the remarkable story of Eleanor Roosevelt, her courage, her compassion, and her lifelong dedication to activism and public service. Your visit ends with a cherished tradition — Eleanor's Tea. Savor New Brunswick's beloved King Cole tea alongside homemade cookies.
Next, a short film at the Campobello Visitor Center sets the stage for the crown jewel of the day — a docent-led tour of the Roosevelts' magnificent 34-room summer home, meticulously preserved exactly as it appeared in 1920. Your group will also explore the historic Hubbard Cottage, built in 1892.
At the appointed time, reboard your motorcoach for the scenic journey back through the USA-Canada border crossing to Lubec, and transfer by boat back to Eastport.
Notes:
Tour sequence may vary. The Roosevelt summer cottage can only accommodate 25 at a time; tour groups will be divided in half. While one group visits the cottage, the other group will visit Hubbard Cottage, then switch. The first floor of the cottage is accessible by ramp – the second floor requires climbing stairs. You must bring your passport on tour; photocopies are not accepted. Depending on your nationality, a multiple-entry visa to Canada and/or the United States may be required; please consider this if your cruise includes another stop in Canada.
