Take a 20-minute coach ride from the ship to where your buggy awaits. Jump into a customized convertible VW Dune Buggy (4 guests per car).
Hit the road, pausing at a beautiful location where two natural lagoons are home to countless flamingos. They browse and play here against a cerulean backdrop. Ask your guide about these Mayan salt pits — they once formed part of a very important trade structure for the Maya.
A few minutes on, explore the ruins of Xcambo — a central city in the Mayan trade route. Built more than 2,000 years ago around the salt industry, today's Xcambo is a fascinating example of archaeology's gifts, with untouched sites, fully restored pyramids, and buildings still under construction.
Pass through the Yucatan Peninsula's typical countryside as you make your way to the Yucatan Beach Club for some fun in the Mexican sun. Escape the everyday as you lounge by the pool, swim in the ocean, or relax on the beach. You'll find lounge chairs, umbrellas and beach volleyball. All beach facilities are included, along with two non-alcoholic drinks (water or soda). Snacks and, for those not driving, alcoholic drinks are available for purchase.
Travel by buggy back into town. Park the cars and walk two blocks to the Progreso Market to shop for local handicrafts and other souvenirs.
