On Holland America Line, gratuities are handled through “Crew Appreciation”, a daily amount automatically added to your onboard account.

Crew Appreciation is Holland America Line’s approach to gratuities, designed to recognize the many team members who support your journey, including those you see every day and those working behind the scenes. It creates a shared foundation of appreciation that reflects the collective care onboard.
How Crew Appreciation is charged
The daily amount is automatically added to your onboard account, allowing you to relax without worrying about calculating tips throughout your cruise. If your experience exceeds expectations, or if something feels off, you may request an adjustment during your voyage before your onboard account is finalized.
Daily Crew Appreciation rates
Non-suite staterooms: $17.00* USD per guest, per day
Suites: $19.00* USD per guest, per day

Service charges on select purchases
An 18% Service Charge is automatically applied to certain onboard purchases, including beverages, specialty dining cover charges, a la carte menu items, bar retail items, and Spa & Salon services. Applicable local taxes are added where required.
Gratuities while ashore
Gratuities are not automatically applied in ports, terminals, airports, or on shore excursions. When ashore, guests are encouraged to follow customary local practices in a way that feels comfortable and appropriate.
Can I adjust the tip or gratuity amount?
Yes, Crew Appreciation may be adjusted onboard before your account is settled.
How adjustments work
If you wish to make a change, simply visit Guest Services during your cruise. Adjustments can be requested at any point prior to settling your onboard account before disembarkation, ensuring you remain in control while enjoying a seamless experience.
