Your introduction to New York City begins with a coach transfer to Lower Manhattan. Your guide offers entertaining commentary and points out major sights.
Leaving the coach at Battery Park on the southern tip of Manhattan Island, follow your guide on a walking tour through Lower Manhattan, the Financial District and the site of the World Trade Center. Along the way, you will see famous Broadway and pass Trinity Church and Wall Street with the New York Stock Exchange. Take note of the iconic Charging Bull statue -- the unofficial symbol of Wall Street.
Arriving at the base of the World Trade Center, you will have approximately one hour to contemplate the 9/11 Memorial. The two massive reflecting pools are set within the original footprints of the Twin Towers, with 30-foot waterfalls cascading down their sides. The names of the 2,982 men, women and children killed on September 11, 2001, and February 26, 1993, are inscribed in bronze on parapets around the edges of the waterfalls. The memorial is set at the base of One World Trade Center, New York's tallest building.
Notes:
This tour is available only to guests whose cruise does not begin or end in New York. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for guests with mobility limitations. Please be aware that the 9/11 Memorial is a place of remembrance and quiet reflection. The walk through Lower Manhattan and the Financial District requires one hour of slow walking or standing. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
