Walk 200 yards from the tender pier to board a RIB boat for an amazing morning or afternoon out on the waters surrounding Nanortalik.
This region is surrounded by granddaddy icebergs floating on the surface of the ocean just below the Arctic Circle. Your skillful captain will take you as close as possible to these scattered mountains of ice. The many icebergs in the area form part of a habitat that is frequented by a large variety of marine mammals such as seals, humpback whales and minke whales, as well as numerous species of seabird. Keep an eye out for any and all of these fascinating creatures.
Wildlife sightings are likely but not guaranteed. Tour operates in an open boat. Flotation suits are available in sizes S-XXL. Wear sturdy, non-skid walking shoes. It is essential that you wear warm, layered clothing in order to fully enjoy and participate in this excursion. Outer layer should be waterproof and windproof. Bring gloves, a warm hat and a scarf. The level of guide experience varies due to the remoteness of the location. Limited tourism infrastructure is part of the charm here, and you are trading breadth of experience for authentic interaction. Please bring your spirit of adventure and bear with any language difficulties your guide may encounter and with any operational surprises that may crop up. There are no restrooms available during the tour.
