Meet your guide at the pier and walk across town to where the real adventures begins.
You'll set out on the trail that leads along the large lake behind the town. Your guide will tell you all about Greenland's natural environment -- the vegetation, native and endemic animals, and how the lake is made by the Inland Ice Sheet.
Along the way, you'll stop to take photos and inhale the marvelous fresh air of Greenland's great outdoors. Your constant companion is the all-encompassing silence of the Arctic landscape.
This pleasant hike in the Arctic offers a view of the tundra and majestic landscapes that are quite different in character from elsewhere.
Notes:
Wear sturdy, non-skid walking shoes. Not advisable for guests with mobility limitations. Not suitable for guests who suffer from asthma or heart or back conditions. The level of guide experience varies in Qaqortoq due to the remoteness of its location. Limited tourism infrastructure is part of the charm here, and you are trading breadth of experience for authentic interaction. Please bring your spirit of adventure and bear with any language difficulties your guide may encounter and with any operational surprises that may crop up. Bring water and a snack from the ship. You will be hiking for approximately three hours. Please realistically assess your physical fitness and ability prior to booking, as the walk has inclines, steps and unpaved walking tracks. Minimum age is 10 years. There are no restrooms available on tour.
