Drive towards Novelda in the province of Alicante. Novelda is located in the southern part of the wider region of Valencia and is famous for its vineyards. The city shares its borders with Elda and Petrel on the northern provincial border.
You will head to the Sanctuary of Santa Magdalena and the adjacent remains of the La Mola Castle, both located on the same hill. The sanctuary is a religious building and part of a project undertaken by Novelda-based engineer, José Sala. His design is in the Catalan Modernist style, of which he was a disciple. Take photos to fully appreciate these impressive monuments.
Next up is Heretat de Cesilia -- one of the region's better-known wine cellars. The origin of the winery and its products lies in the exemplary Casa Cesilia wines first produced by the Marquis de Romana in 1707. During your visit, your guide will explain the 18th-century Labor House and will introduce you to the vineyards and the modern-day winery. Enjoy a pleasant wine-tasting session and, if you like, browse for a bottle to take back home.
