Day 1: (L/D)
Begin your day exploring the cultural and archaeological treasures that make Peru’s northern coast unforgettable. Your first stop is Huanchaco Beach, where you’ll see the iconic totora-reed fishing boats, crafted and used by local fishermen just as they have been for thousands of years.
Continue to the vast ruins of Chan Chan, the largest adobe city in the ancient Americas. Walk through its intricate plazas and corridors as you learn about the remarkable Chimú civilization that once thrived here.
Next, head into Trujillo, founded in 1534, and discover a city rich in colonial charm. Stroll through the Plaza de Armas, admire colorful historic mansions, and view the elegant Libertador Hotel, one of the city’s architectural highlights.
At midday, enjoy a traditional lunch at a local hacienda, where you’ll be treated to a performance of the graceful Peruvian Paso Horse show, known for the horses’ smooth, dance-like gait. You’ll also witness the Marinera, Peru’s celebrated coastal folk dance.
In the afternoon, visit the impressive Moche pyramids, two monumental, terraced temples built by a pre-Columbian culture that flourished more than 1,200 years ago—one of the most striking archaeological sites on the coast.
After your tour, transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima. Upon arrival in Lima, walk to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Hotel: Wyndham Grand Costa del Sol Airport Hotel (or something similar)
Day 2: (B/L/D)
After breakfast, walk to the airport to check in for your morning flight to Cusco.
Upon arrival, transfer to a local restaurant for lunch before beginning your exploration of Cusco, the historic capital of the Inca Empire.
Your city tour starts at the magnificent Cusco Cathedral, a Baroque masterpiece built in the mid-1500s atop the foundations of an Inca palace. Many of its stones were taken from the nearby Sacsayhuamán fortress, giving the cathedral a striking blend of Inca and Colonial heritage.
Continue to Koricancha, once the most sacred temple in the Inca Empire. Here, you’ll admire the elegant Convent of Santo Domingo, built directly over the Temple of the Sun. The contrast between Inca stonework and Spanish architecture makes this one of Cusco’s most fascinating sites.
Next, visit the impressive Sacsayhuamán archaeological complex. This monumental Inca fortress overlooks the city and is renowned for its massive stone walls—some weighing over 100 tons—fitted together with extraordinary precision. Learn about its ceremonial importance and its role in Inca defense.
After your tour, travel through the beautiful Sacred Valley to your hotel. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Tambo del Inka, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa.
Hotel: Tambo del Inka, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa
Day 3: (B/L/D)
Following breakfast, transfer to the train station and board your panoramic-window train to Machu Picchu. As you travel through the Sacred Valley, enjoy the dramatic scenery unfolding around you while lunch is served on board.
Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, continue by bus to the legendary Machu Picchu, the famed “Lost City of the Incas.” Built in the 1400s as a royal estate for Emperor Pachacuti, the site was mysteriously abandoned less than a century later. Hidden high in the Andes and never discovered by the Spanish, it remained largely intact until Hiram Bingham brought it to international attention in 1911.
Your guided exploration reveals the most iconic areas of this extraordinary citadel, sweeping agricultural terraces, and the enigmatic carved stone set on a raised platform above the main plaza. While scholars believe it may have served astronomical purposes, its true function remains unknown—one of many mysteries that make Machu Picchu so captivating.
After your visit, board the train back to Ollantaytambo, where dinner will be served on board. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for the night at Tambo del Inka.
Hotel: Tambo del Inka, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa
