Depart the ship and head to the Punta Loma Nature Reserve, just nine miles from Puerto Madryn. Young sea lions can be seen here all year round, and from April on, many migratory mammals from Puerto Piramides join them.
Your tour includes a traditional Argentine snack of mate and typical cookies/cakes at the Estancia San Guillermo. At this impressive ranch, you will view an entertaining sheep-shearing demonstration, where the farmhands show off their considerable skill.
Shy guanacos are also kept as pets here at the estancia, so enjoy this opportunity to see them up close before you transfer back to the ship.
Notes:
Due to Puerto Madryn's remote location, the standard of transportation used may be more basic than in some other ports. It is essential that you wear warm, layered clothing to fully enjoy and participate in this excursion; outer layer should be waterproof and windproof. Bring gloves, a warm hat and a scarf.
