Head from Maceió Port directly to Frances Beach, perhaps the most beautiful and best-known beach on the southern Alagoas coast. Its emerald waters enchant visitors from all over the world, and its special feature is that it is divided in two parts -- a calm lagoon fringed by coral reefs and a wilder side with surf waves. Local restaurants nearby offer a variety of menus.
After some free time for swimming and enjoying the beach, return to Maceió for a panoramic drive through the city. Watch for the Rei Pele Football Stadium and the cathedral, and take in the marvelous view from the lookout station atop São Gonçalo Hill before you return to the ship.
Notes:
Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, sunscreen and a hat. The Beach Kiosk is the meeting point. Plastic tables and chairs, and beach umbrellas are supplied at no extra cost. Chaise lounges are not available. An optional boat trip including mask and snorkel is available at the beach (at your own expense -- Brazilian currency required).
