You'll depart from Pisco and drive through the desert to the ruins of Tambo Colorado. This well-preserved adobe and stone structure, likely built atop an ancient fortress of the pre-Inca culture of Chincha, was adapted and transformed into a grain depository, administrative and military center by the Inca Pachacutec in the 15th century. It is the most interesting artifact of the Inca culture on the Peruvian coast. There is evidence that the site was used to worship the sun, as well as to study astronomy and everything related to agriculture.
From Tambo Colorado you’ll continue to Hacienda San Jose which was one of the most important haciendas on the coast of Peru. It is a lovely place and combines stunning modern beauty with incredible history and architecture. Lunch will be buffet style and will include a show of Afroperuvian music which is one of the highlights in the area.
