As you drive through downtown Coquimbo, you will pass the Plaza de Armas -- the main square.
Continue on to La Herradura. During a brief stop at this seaside resort, your guide will share legends of ruthless pirates and cutthroat corsairs. Then you will pass through Coquimbo via the Pan-American Highway.
In La Serena city and its downtown area, take photos at the main square, which is famous for its mix of colonial and modern architecture. You’ll also stop at a viewpoint and take in the panoramic views of the city and Coquimbo Bay.
Explore further with a drive along the Coastal Avenue and the beach area packed with visitors and locals alike, past modern buildings, hotels, pubs, discos and restaurants. Stark contrasts in the cityscapes you’ll see include the old Peñuelas fishing town, Coquimbo Casino, and the most famous landmark of them all -- El Faro lighthouse. The latter is the iconic symbol of La Serena. Take advantage of a photo stop here before returning to the ship.
