For culture lovers, this tour provides an up-close study of the beautiful artifacts and handicrafts of ancient cultures that were driven to extinction many centuries ago.
Travel 40 minutes by coach to visit Lima's most noteworthy museum. Founded in 1926 in an old mansion built in 1707, the Archaeological Museum of Rafael Larco Herrera houses an immense and priceless collection of pre-Inca pottery fashioned by the Mochica, Chimu and other civilizations.
Continue another 50 minutes through suburban Lima to the world-famous Gold Museum, privately owned by Mujica Gallo. Fabulous gold objects and precious stones here date back to ancient Peruvian times. Also on display is a unique collection of antique swords and guns.
You'll have time for shopping in the adjacent souvenir and handicraft stores.
Notes:
This tour is designed for guests who are interested in a faster-paced experience. Panoramic options are available for those who prefer a more relaxed outing. The Gold Museum covers two floors and does not have an elevator.
