In Buenos Aires, drive along Avenida de Mayo, surrounded by the Casa Rosada Government House, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Cabildo built during Spanish rule. Pass by the Colón Theatre Opera House -- the cultural pride of Buenos Aires.
Pass through the Recoleta area -- one of the city's most glamorous spots -- and stop to visit the Recoleta Cemetery. The paths are lined with mausoleums and statues marking the generations of Argentine families that rest here in ornate splendor, including the grave of Eva Peron.
Then, continue to San Telmo -- the oldest district of Buenos Aires.
With all of the major sights of the city now covered, head past the impressive Congress buildings into the heart of Buenos Aires for lunch, drinks and a spectacular tango show arranged exclusively for the guests of Holland America Line. The tango is a dance that is often referred to as 'a vertical expression of a horizontal desire.'
