Rainmaker Conservation Park offers visitors a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit one of the most biologically diverse rainforests on the planet. Located in the heart of the Quepos Biological Corridor, the 1,400-acre nature reserve represents what has made Costa Rica one of the world's greenest countries.
Begin with a 30-minute drive through the palm plantations and into the wondrous mountains overlooking the Pacific Ocean. After a brief orientation, take a guided nature walk through and over the magnificent Costa Rican rainforest.
Walking along a river's edge using handrails and footpaths, pause at observation platforms to view beautiful waterfalls and photograph the rich biodiversity. Morpho butterflies, many bird species, the colorful poison dart frog, and thousands of endemic plant species make this area home. Depending on the time of year, your guide may point out incredible reptiles making their way down to the river's edge.
At the end of the walk, a pristine waterfall pool beckons you to enjoy a refreshing swim.
Next, traverse the world-famous Canopy Bridge system. The system consists of six sections spanning 800 feet of hanging bridges attached to massive hardwood trees. From viewing platforms, you will experience the majesty of the forest canopy from a bird's-eye view.
Upon the completion of your exciting walk, you will have a chance to learn from forest researchers and biologists, who will tell you more about the delicate rainforest ecosystem.
Your visit concludes with a snack of organic tropical fruits and time to browse in the souvenir shop .
Notes:
Wear comfortable closed-toe shoes. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, light clothing to act as a full cover-up for further protection from the sun, and a hat. Swim at your own risk. A shorter, moderate walk to the riverbank is available for guests not wishing to use the hanging bridges. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.
