Journey to the colonial capital of Antigua. The scenic 90-minute narrated panoramic drive through Guatemala's lowlands affords magnificent views of volcanoes, cattle farms and sugar cane plantations.
Upon arrival at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Antigua, visit the beautiful Central Plaza and step inside the cathedral. Head to the famous Capuchinas Convent for a unique insight into convent life in colonial times.
Enjoy a traditional Guatemalan meal at a local restaurant, followed by some free time to explore the area on your own.
En route back to the pier, you'll pause to check out the famous Jade Museum & Factory. Here, you'll discover how fine jadeite jade is transformed into works of art and how today's jade industry compares with the complex history of this stone within the Maya civilization. Jadeite jade is found mainly in Guatemala and Burma. You will have time to browse among the many jade products available for purchase here before returning to the ship.
