Montevideo is an eclectic mix of architectural influences, with impressive buildings dating back to some very prosperous times. The city borders on being an open-air exhibition of monuments, sculptures and museums, displaying the excellent work of Uruguayan artists and architects.
Travel by motorcoach to the Independence Square. Set out on a walking tour with your guide to see the Palacio Salvo and step inside the magnificent Teatro Solis.
Continue to the Torres Garcia Museum, housing the works of one of Uruguay's best-known artists, and at Matriz Square, the heart of the Old Town, you will see the cathedral.
A visit to the museum of the gaucho and currency reflects the history of monetary evolution and the life of the gaucho in Uruguay.

Palacio Taranco is open 12noon to 4pm only. The walking tour covers uneven surfaces. Wear sturdy walking shoes.
