Get to know and love Costa Rica's charming, ever-smiling sloths at the Aviarios del Caribe Sloth Sanctuary. This attraction was made famous by the popular series Meet the Sloths. Learn about the rescue center and the important work done by members of the Arroyo family -- the founders of the sanctuary. See these enigmatic animals up close and learn about their living habits and unique personalities.
A short drive brings you to a jetty where you'll board an open-air boat for a trip through the Tortuguero Canals. This system of natural and man-made water channels is home to more than 300 tree species, plant-life and a wide array of birds. Walk along gravel trails through the rainforest with a break for bottled water and fresh fruit.
Retuning to Limón, you'll stop at the Santa Rosa Banana Plantation (a demonstration facility) and to learn about growing and harvesting this ubiquitous crop and shop for souvenirs.
