Explore the Tortuguero Canals -- Costa Rica's version of the Amazon -- on a gentle boat ride surrounded by wildlife. Your naturalist guide points out the captivating flora and fauna as you drift past orchids and water lilies. Keep an eye out for toucans, shy sloths, howler and spider monkeys, crocodiles, river otters and turtles.
An interactive artisanal show focused on cacao is your ticket to learning all about cocoa and chocolate production from an entertaining expert. The secrets of this native plant are revealed. Sample fresh cocoa, hold it in your hand (and mouth), and learn how this superfood became celebrated the world over. Delight in a fun, hands-on chocolate tasting -- the multiple flavor profiles of the different types of chocolate are both enlightening and delicious.
Enjoy time in the peaceful canalside tropical garden, where experts will point out cacao and tropical fruit trees. Noisy, colorful birds contribute enthusiastically to the soundtrack of nature.

Participants must be able to take a few steps to (dis)embark the coach and the boat and be able to walk short distances. Terrain includes concrete floors and dirt trails, garden paths and uneven ground. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable sunscreen. Bring bottled water. Bring insect repellent. Transfer time to the boat is 25 minutes each way. Wildlife sightings are common but not guaranteed.
