Your adventure begins aboard a 6x6 monster bus -- an all-terrain, comfortably air-conditioned vehicle with wide panoramic windows.
Head west, passing small towns and following a winding road near the Banano River, with majestic views and lookout points along the way. Enjoy Costa Rican snacks (weather permitting) including casaba, plantain chips, soft drinks, and bottled water.
Take a gentle stroll with your naturalist guide for the chance to see poison dart frogs, monkeys and birds.
An entirely different experience is next -- you will pass by a banana plantation nestled in a small valley among farm-to-market towns. Your guide will tell you about banana production in the country whose name is virtually synonymous with this delicious and ubiquitous fruit.
Return to the ship by way of a scenic drive .
Notes:
Participants must be able to climb 8 steps to (dis)embark the monster bus. Ride will be bumpy; not suitable for guests with back or neck conditions or for pregnant women. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.
