Learn about the history, culture and flavors of historical Puerto Limon on this easy guided tour. Your day begins with a very short drive to Parque Vargas.
Set out on a walk that acquaints you with the park and the small, seaside City Hall. Take in beautiful views of the ocean and Uvita Island, where Christopher Columbus landed in 1502. He named this land Costa Rica, meaning Rich Coast.
Check out the Pasaje Cristal -- an informal art exhibition of paintings, sculptures, and other media from Costa Rican artists.
Reboard the coach for a scenic panoramic drive along the coastal road toward Playa Bonita Beach.
Back in Puerto Limon's downtown area, listen to a live Calypso band and dancers at the Casa de la Cultura. Feel free to join in and dance to this special Caribbean rhythm.
At the historic United Fruit Company building, an interactive Caribbean gastronomical experience has you preparing traditional Caribbean cuisine, including a local version of rice and beans, tastings of the mild-spicy patty, and the tropical sweet plantain fruit -- all part of your snack menu for the day.
Return to the ship by simply crossing the street to enter the port area and pass through its pop-up souvenir market.
