On this highly interactive tour, you will be immersed in tradition and culture, with art displays, food samples and a chance to purchase souvenirs.
Depart the pier for a short drive to the all-metal United Fruit Company building, built in 1904. Here, you will see several stations offering food exhibitions as your guide introduces you to some of the unique cultural items found here. Sample traditional turnover, roasted chocolate, fruits, natural drinks, and cocoa butter balm for lips and body (at your own expense).
Continuing your journey into the countryside, you will pass several banana plantations, underscoring the importance of this crop to the national economy. Listen as your guide explains the process of growing and harvesting bananas.
Then, visit Arco Iris del Caribe Tropical Plant Paradise. This facility is primarily used for the export of a variety of indoor and outdoor plants, so you can see how these plants are cultivated, produced and packed for export. A naturalist guide will take you on a tour of the facility, including a botanical garden area where you will learn about the medicinal uses of these plants and flowers.
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Terrain includes 16 steps at the United Fruit Company building, with no elevator. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations.
