Embrace the rhythms, feel the pulse, and move your beat-loving body during a fun-filled lesson at one of Cartagena's most acclaimed dance schools.
Your day begins with a guided walk from the Clock Tower into the timeworn streets of the Old City. This is where you'll find Crazy Salsa -- a dance academy well known for making learning traditional dances a whole lot of fun.
Get acquainted with three typical dances of Colombia. Salsa is perhaps the most popular, known for Afro-Caribbean rhythms and swaying hips. Champeta is a cultural phenomenon born just a few decades ago on the streets of Cartagena. And Cumbia revolves around the dynamics that happen when a man courts a woman -- think Tango with a twist of folkloric rhythm and salsa fire.
After an introduction to each genre, take your pick and enjoy a lively lesson that will have you moving as you've never moved before.
Afterward, marvel as your instructors put on a show-stopping performance of their own -- your
appreciation for their moves is distinctly heightened by your lesson in this beautiful and complex art.
Enjoy free time to explore the Old City on your own before returning to the ship.
Notes:
