Explore Panama's foodie landscape — one of culture, taste, and innovation — in addition to the Miraflores Locks on the astounding Panama Canal.
Journey to the newly opened Panama's BEC (Brand Experience Center), located in the heart of Casco Antiguo of Panama City. This elegant facility celebrates the key flavors of Panama — beer, chocolate, and coffee — and its most beloved brands. More than a museum, it's a fully immersive experience of storytelling and interactive exhibits. You'll explore the processes, inventions, and heritage that have shaped these iconic Panamanian products. Learn about the world-renowned coffee of Boquete, fine Panamanian chocolate crafted from exceptional cacao, and the National beer.
Next, head to the Miraflores Locks and the Observation Center's IMAX Theater for a virtual trip through this wonder of the world. Watch the movie entitled A Land Divided, A World United. The film spans from the days when the Conquistadors struggled through a water-soaked quagmire to the 19th-century French canal-digging debacle, to the American engineering achievement that revolutionized shipping and tropical medicine. It is also about the visionary present day, documenting efforts by Panama to expand the 100-year-old waterway to accommodate Neopanamax ships. From the top floor, watch for a close-up view of ships transiting the Panama Canal.
Notes:
Depending on canal scheduling, you may not see vessels in the lock chambers. Terrain includes cobblestones and uneven surfaces. Tour sequence may vary.
