Set sail aboard a gold rush-era scow schooner, blending the thrill of coastal waters with the rich tapestry of Bay Area heritage.
A leisurely 10-minute stroll along the waterfront brings you tothe majestic tall ship Gas Light. Step aboard and raise your glass for a celebratory champagne or sparkling apple cider toast. This magnificent vessel, with her towering masts and billowing sails, will transport you back in time. Feel free to help raise her 2,000 square feet of sails to cruise San Francisco Bay.
Watch for Yerba Buena, Treasure and Alcatraz Islands and, on a clear day, a magnificent view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Blankets, pillows and even windbreakers are provided as you watch for porpoises, sea lions, whales and a variety of seabirds, including California brown pelicans.
A light snack is available, and a full bar sells cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages (at your own expense).
The boat offers modern amenities, two restrooms, a bar, and a speakeasy-like space below decks.
Notes:
There is no swimming offered. BYO alcohol is not allowed on the boat. Participants must walk to the boat and board via a step ladder with four steps. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Dress warmly in layers with a wind- and waterproof outer layer. Tour sequence may vary. The vessel is not exclusive to HAL guests.
