This land and sea excursion focuses on the rich maritime history and romance of the San Francisco waterfront, from Fisherman's Wharf and bustling Pier 39 to an adventurous sail aboard a tall ship.
Travel by coach past the colorful, historic sites of the Barbary Coast and the Embarcadero to Pier 40 and board the tall ship Gas Light. Set out with more than 2,000 square feet of sails to cruise San Francisco Bay, passing Oracle Park and under the Oakland Bay Bridge. Watch for Yerba Buena, Treasure and Alcatraz Islands and, on a clear day, a magnificent view of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Blankets, pillows and even windbreakers are provided as you watch for porpoise, sea lions, whales and a variety of seabirds, including California brown pelicans.
Lunch is served with local farm-to-market options, and a full bar sells cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages (at your own expense).
Travel by motorcoach to Fisherman's Wharf with some free time to shop, visit art galleries or view a traditional sourdough bakery, Hyde Street Pier, Ghirardelli Square and the waterfront.
Notes:
There is no swimming offered. BYO alcohol is not allowed on the boat. Participants must walk to the boat and board via a step ladder with four steps. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Dress warmly in layers with a wind- and waterproof outer layer; bring gloves, a scarf and a warm hat. Tour sequence may vary.
