Depart the pier on a ride along the Embarcadero to the ferry. Set off on a cruise on San Francisco Bay, learning about Alcatraz, the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges, the Ball Park and many of the historical sites along the waterfront of San Francisco.
Alcatraz Island became a federal prison in 1934, housing mobster kingpin Al Capone and Robert Franklin Stroud (the Birdman of Alcatraz). It's also been the setting for many films, such as The Rock and Escape from Alcatraz. Circling the island, you will have excellent views of the island in the middle of San Francisco Bay. (This portion is a cruise around Alcatraz Island.)
Cruise to the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges, learning about their history and construction.
Back at the pier, board a motorcoach to cross the Golden Gate Bridge. Stop at Vista Point for a brief photo stop on the northern end of the bridge. Weather permitting, you'll have sweeping views of San Francisco Bay, the city skyline, and Alcatraz.
Enjoy a scenic drive back to the pier, passing Fisherman’s Wharf and Ghirardelli Square, once the site of the world-famous chocolate factory, now thriving with eclectic boutiques and cafés. You’ll also pass the Cannery, bustling with boutiques and restaurants.
