The Old Mission Santa Barbara is situated on 15 acres overlooking the Pacific Ocean, known as the "Queen of the Missions", is a must-see historical site featuring stunning architecture, lush gardens, and a rich history. Highlights include the Mission Church, a nine-room museum, and the historic cemetery.
Your excursion begins with a dockside greeting by a Spanish-costumed guide with in-depth knowledge of the area's cultural history, notable events, and insider tips to enhance your visit.
The journey continues aboard the trolley for the Ride Through History. Your guide will guide you through the itinerary, providing insights into Santa Barbara’s rich cultural heritage. Along the way, you'll explore the Funk Zone, admire distinctive landmarks and architecture, and discover why the town is known as “The American Riviera.” The trolley ride also highlights the scenic coastline, passing iconic spots like Cabrillo Boulevard, Chase Palm Park, and the reflective waters of The Bird Refuge. You'll also visit Montecito’s charming Coast Village Road, known for its vibrant shopping and dining scene.
Upon arrival, you’ll receive skip-the-line priority access and an immersive tour of the Mission’s interior and exterior grounds. The tour includes magnificent architecture, breathtaking colonial-era art and sculptures, and a unique Mission church with a crypt beneath the sanctuary where Franciscan friars and early settlers are interred. You will also explore the historic cemetery and mausoleum, along with a nine-room museum showcasing Native American artifacts, a re-creation of a 17th-century kitchen, and historical mission-era photographs. Among the museum’s highlights are the Treasures Room, featuring an original Chumash altar, and the exhibit dedicated to the Lone Woman of San Nicolas Island, Juana Maria.
Additionally, you will receive a digital download of the 5-Star Mission Santa Barbara Exterior Walk, available in five languages. This mobile tour provides a walking route covering the Mission’s exterior points of interest, allowing you to take a piece of your journey home.
Along the way, you’ll pass other legendary Santa Barbara landmarks, including the Court House, Presidio, and Historic Theater District.
