Dying to join this spirited and entertaining tour of haunted San Diego? Hop aboard the Trolley of the Doomed to explore the birthplace of California.
Travel back in time to the Old Town -- once the demesne of notorious characters -- gunslingers, gamblers and ladies of the evening. Some would say their spirits live on in the dark recesses of San Diego's historic buildings, neighborhoods and cemeteries.
Visit the El Campo Santo Cemetery and enjoy a tour of the Whaley House grounds. Both sites are known for paranormal occurrences. According to the Travel Channel's America's Most Haunted, Whaley House is considered the most haunted house in the United States. Who are the ghosts of Whaley House, and why are they here? Your guide is happy to explain the inexplicable.
After your guided tour, you'll have free time to explore the nearby Old Town San Diego Historic State Park (at your own expense). Many of its original buildings have been restored -- La Casa de Estudillo, La Casa de Machado y Stewart, and La Casa de Bandini, which later became the Cosmopolitan Hotel. The Schoolhouse and the San Diego Union building are 19th-century buildings typical of early-American wood framing practices. Several other 19th-century reconstructions populate the state park to complete the experience.
The Old Town is home to many restaurants and cafés where you can take advantage of some included free time to explore, shop, or dine on your own. (at your own expense).
Re-board any trolley from the Old Town Market for the drive back to the pier (trolleys depart approximately every 20 minutes).
