Encounter the varied past of Ilha Grande during this walking tour through the village and its environs.
Depart the pier on foot with your guide, visiting San Sebastian Church.
From there, follow a walking trail into the State Park of Ilha Grande, where you can admire the beauty of the Atlantic forest. Pass through the ruins of the old leprosarium, which later became a political prison.
See the aqueduct and learn about the different eras of Brazil's past — from the Natives and buccaneers to Emperor Dom Pedro II and the coffee and sugar cane barons.
You will stop at Black Beach, where those who so wish can take quick swim in the natural pools of the aqueduct. Your walk will continue to the viewpoint for photos before you head back to the village.
