A 50-minute schooner sail from Abraao brings you to Praia do Mangues.
Set out with your guide on a pleasant 30-minute walk along a trail leading to Lopes Mendes beach. A hidden beauty, this beach offers fine white sand and crystal-clear water — it is possibly one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
Upon arrival at the beach, you'll discover almost a mile of pure white sand, a small creek running into the ocean and, oddly, a small chapel with a mosaic by Silvio Cavalheiro. Take some time to relax on the beach or explore on your own.
A 30-minute walk brings you back to Praia do Mangues and the schooner which will return you to the ship in Abraao.
Notes:
Lopes Mendes is a relatively deserted beach and features no chairs or infrastructure such as bars or restaurants. Vendors sell beverages; bring local currency. A bottle of water is provided. Bring a backpack. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, sunscreen and a hat. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. There are no restrooms available other than on board the schooner. Tour operates rain or shine, but may be cancelled by the operator in the event of extremely bad weather or unsuitable conditions.
