A short drive brings you to Suderbys Herrgård hotel restaurant, owned and operated by the Jacobsson family since 1988. Taste a few different Gotland-made specialty foods. Some of the snacks are homemade on the premises; others are from farms nearby -- a delicious stop.
Ansarve sheep farm has about 150 ewes. Here, Jenny Granlund and her family and friends make clothes and interior decor items using wool, sheepskin and yarn from their own sheep.
In the Gotlandic countryside, narrow roads lead past forest, farmland and meadows. Visit one of the 92 medieval churches of Gotland, all built by the Vikings.
Take a guided walk (about .75 mile) through Visby -- a medieval stone city surrounded by an intact wall built in the 13th century.
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes.
Participants will encounter cobblestone streets in Visby and some uneven terrain elsewhere. The Visby portion is not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations; guests using a wheelchair must be able to (dis)embark the coach unassisted and will not be able to tour Visby's Old Town. There is a staircase with 74 downhill steps. Tour sequence may vary.
