From the pier, travel south by coach and into the Gotland countryside to visit one of the 92 medieval churches still in use on the island today. The history of these churches is as visible in the architecture as it is in their decorations.
At Roma Station, hop into a vintage train carriage and set off along the old railway line that runs through quiet green landscapes. Passing through Tule Station, you'll end your ride at Dalhem Station.
Wander over to a nearby café for a true local delicacy -- a saffron pancake. This treat is thought to be unique to the island of Gotland.
The coach journey back to Visby is via a varied agricultural and wooded landscape.
In Visby, you'll stop for a walk through the medieval Old Town. Walk through the Dalmans Gate on the eastern side of the city, along twisting alleys, past the Big Square and through cobblestone alleyways.
At the medieval harbor of Almedalen, the coach waits to return you to the pier.
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes.
