A Dutch-speaking guide leads this tour (or a guide with a Dutch interpreter). A limited number of Dutch guides and interpreters are available in this port; book early to avoid disappointment. This is not a bilingual tour; please see Tromso Highlights & Cable Car for the same tour guided in English.
Tromsø is the capital of northern Norway, with 52,000 inhabitants, and has charmingly preserved its old buildings. Tromsø was once Norway's national capital for a grand total of 38 days!
Drive through the city to the Tromsø Museum -- the largest museum and research institute in northern Norway, with exhibits focused on modern cultural history and Sami ethnography.
Your tour also includes a visit to the Tromsdalen Church -- the Arctic Cathedral -- on the mainland. The church has Europe's largest stained-glass window (1,500 square feet), depicting the Return of Christ. Tromsø Island is linked to the mainland by the 3,398-foot Tromsø Bridge. Ride the cable car up Mt Storsteinen for a beautiful view of Tromsø Island, surrounded by the sea and the mountains.
Notes:
Inside church visit(s) may not be possible if religious services are being held.
