Opened in 1978, 50 years after Roald Amundsen’s final expedition, the museum highlights Tromsø’s significance in Arctic exploration. Learn about legendary explorers like Amundsen and Fridtjof Nansen, who relied on Tromsø for skilled crews and ships. Discover exhibitions on Arctic trapping and hunting, and gain insight into the challenges of polar expeditions.
Continue to a husky kennel just outside Tromsø, where you’ll meet the dedicated caretakers of these incredible sled dogs. Learn about their role in Arctic races and expeditions, view the equipment used, and interact with the beautiful huskies, symbols of Arctic endurance.
