Here's an unforgettable encounter with energetic husky dogs in the peaceful beauty of the Norwegian outdoors. They're very excited to meet you — don't stand them up!
Head to a rural property outside of Trondheim, where the friendly dogs enthusiastically welcome you. Your guide prepares and harnesses the huskies that will be joining you on your hike. These lively dogs are full of energy, so only a few are accompany each group to ensure a comfortable, controlled experience.
Your adventure begins with an easy guided hike through varied terrain. The trail may follow gravel roads, weave through forest and mountain landscapes, cross open moorland, and pass over small streams. Surrounded by stunning scenery, you'll find countless photo opportunities.
After the hike, return to the kennel area to meet the adult dogs, the younger pack members and, seasonally, some adorable puppies. There's plenty of time to cuddle these four-legged friends and learn more about the dogs and the traditions of dog-sledding.
Before heading back to Trondheim, relax and enjoy a coffee — the perfect end to a memorable day with the huskies.
Notes:
Wear sturdy hiking boots or waterproof shoes. Participants must follow the guide's instructions around the dogs. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer. The huskies are friendly and may jump up at you. Wear clothing you can easily wash. The huskies moult their fur in the summertime; this can often make them appear scruffy. Rest assured that these working animals are well cared for. Only a few huskies join the hike due to their high energy levels. Tour requires walking approximately 3½-4 miles (5-6 km). Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, inclines, gravel, grass, stones, roots, dirt, and steps.
