Meet your biking instructor at the pier and take a short 10-minute walk. Grab a bike and helmet and start your fun guided bike ride through the city of Stavanger.
Stavanger is one of the country's largest cities, and its history dates back to the Middle Ages. Its coastal location makes keening seagulls and salty sea spray part of the experience, along with old wooden houses, summer festivals, and stunning scenery. The Oil City, as it is also known, is a true gem in summer, and there is plenty to see and explore.
Head to the Stavanger Botanic Garden to see and smell the many plants and flowers from all over the world. Follow the winding paths through the perennial garden, the herb garden and the geographical garden. Admire colorful flowers that soothe the eye and the soul. There are many thousands of different plant species in total -- perhaps some you've never seen before.
Don't miss the Swords in the Rock monument -- a great photo stop.
In Old Stavanger, admire the beautiful wooden houses while walking your bike along the cobblestone streets. The tour ends back at your starting point; it's a ten-minute walk back to the ship from here.
Guests wishing to stay in town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so but must make their own way back to the ship.
Notes:
Tour does not operate on Sundays. The plants and flowers at the Botanic Garden vary throughout the season; seeing flowers in bloom is not guaranteed. Minimum age is 12 years.
