The Queensferry Crossing on the Firth of Forth is one of the most recognized saltwater passages in Europe, thanks to its clutch of extraordinary bridges. Not one but three bridges cross the Firth to link the greater Edinburgh area with the Kingdom of Fife in the north. As you cross the freeway bridge, marvel at its sleek and modern design, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
Upon reaching Dunfermline, you’ll head straight to Dunfermline Abbey. This historic abbey boasts great significance -- it is the burial site of many Scottish kings and queens, including Robert the Bruce. Explore its beautifully preserved medieval architecture, stroll through the gardens, and learn about the profound history of the abbey.
Enjoy some free time to wander through Dunfermline town -- a mix of charming shops, cafés, and local attractions -- or take a leisurely walk through picturesque Pittencrieff Park.
Heading back to the ship, you have a picture-perfect view of the iconic three bridges.
Notes:
Tour requires approximately one hour of walking at Dunfermline Abbey; additional walking is at participants’ discretion during free time. Participants must be able to climb coach steps unassisted. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, cobblestones, gravel, grass, many steps, and a spiral staircase. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Adverse weather or restoration works may cause the Abbey to close at short notice. Access to the tomb of Robert the Bruce and the Tiffany Window can be restricted at short notice. The Abbey has some low lighting.
