This fascinating walk takes you to some sites and monuments associated with the maiden and final voyage of Titanic. As the hometown of one-third of those on that fateful voyage, Southampton resonates with Titanic stories and with the aftermath for those affected by its sinking.
Along the way, you will learn the story of the real Jack Dawson, view the class-divided hotels where ill-fated millionaires spent their last nights on land, and see the pub that saved the lives of the three men who stayed too late to make the voyage. Learn how the city dealt with the disaster, and linger outside White Star Line's former offices -- a beautiful old redbrick building in Dutch colonial style -- where the lists of the living and the dead were placed on display. You may be shocked at how those who survived were treated.
Other aspects of Southampton's maritime past and its city walls are also up for investigation.
Afterward, walk back to the ship.
