The tulip has become a revered symbol of the Netherlands. Keukenhof town is the middle of the most important bulb-growing area in Holland. Originally, the area surrounding Keukenhof was used for hunting and collecting herbs for the castle -- hence the name Keukenhof, meaning 'the kitchen garden.'
Today's tour is a feast for the senses, with the sight and scent of thousands of perfect, colorful flowers. You will leave the pier for a beautiful panoramic drive past lowland countryside dotted with canals, flowers and grazing animals.
Marvel at the surprisingly vast fields filled with blooming tulips. Many visitors from Europe come here each year just to see the flowers and the astonishing view over the bulb fields.
Reaching Keukenhof, you are invited to discover a spectacular park -- considered by many to be the most beautiful Springtime park in the world. The park features almost 80 acres of flowering tulips, hyacinths, daffodils and other spring bulbs. Leave the coach immersing yourself in the almost-overwhelming display of riotous hues, exploring on your own at a pace that suits you. This is the stuff of picture postcards.
Also, don't miss the stunning flower show in the pavilions, where local and exotic plants promise to dazzle in blooming technicolor.
