Head out on a scenic journey along the IJssel River and enjoy typical Dutch landscapes.
Pause at a 17th-century cheese farm in the lowland countryside. Here you will see firsthand how cheese is made and how you can recognize authentic Gouda cheese. You will also sample some of the cheeses.
Continue to the city of Gouda -- a picture-postcard version of a small Dutch town. Travel down Gouda's narrow cobblestone streets to take photos of St Jan's Church. Founded in 1280, the church is dedicated to John the Baptist -- Gouda's patron saint. It was rebuilt in the 16th century after a disastrous fire and, at 403 feet long, is the largest cross-shaped church in the Netherlands. Enjoy approximately 30 minutes of free time here.
Walk back to the coach past the Catharina Gasthuis Museum to return to Rotterdam.
Notes:
This tour is available only to guests whose cruise does not begin or end in Rotterdam. Tour does not operate on Sundays or holidays.
