Take a panoramic drive through the boulevards of Riga's city center, watching for its fine examples of Art Nouveau architecture from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. View the Freedom Monument from the coach.
The easiest way to discover the history of Riga is on foot. Get acquainted with the 13th-century St Peter's, St George's and St John's Churches as you walk to medieval John's yard. In the Old Town, you will also see the medieval dwelling houses known as the Three Brothers and the magnificent Dome Cathedral.
Riga's Old Town is surrounded by water. Part of the old fortification system, the moat is a beautiful waterway surrounded by green parks and flowerbeds. From a wooden boat, see the National Opera House, the university, Riga's Central Market, many other great architectural monuments, and the River Daugava.
